I think what caught my eye was the fact that this happened at Duke University, a campus I almost visited a few months ago. Duke University has always been an extremely prestigious University in my mind and it is sad to see that racism happens everywhere no matter where you live or go to school. I know of some people from UT that are KapSig’s and it makes things a little uncomfortable knowing that as a national fraternity their bretheren participate in activities such as this that are extremely arrogant and ignorant.

I also read a comment from someone that went like this:
OK, these parties seem stupid. I would hope I raise my daughter better than this, and teach my sons what is true virtue, but some interesting questions are brought up.
1. Do we have a right to not be offended ever?
2. Is this protected free speech, as despicable as it may be?
3. Because someone is offended by how people exercise their free speech, is it legitimate to use non-voluntary (arguably violent) methods to effect this behavior?
I think the kids have every right to protest, but if no one was raped, or beaten, and only feelings were hurt, no crime was committed.
To tell my mom the story about the Vietnamese Catholic representative of Costa Rica. Also about how your grandma was like we crossed paths in San Jose…. I mean the way your grandma put it..it is kinda creepy lol. Like what are the chances for this crazy happenstance?
